Most animals are nocturnal.
At dusk they begin to stir for the hunt. At the Singapore Zoo these
activities are captured to best effect using subtle lighting which
permits us to watch up-close whilst not disturbing the animals.
The Singapore Zoo houses over 1200 animals from 110 exotic species. Tiger, striped
hyaena, golden jackal, cape buffalo, blue sheep and the rare greater one horned
rhinoceros are but some of the animals you will see. The Night Safari covers
an area of 40 hectares of secondary jungle with the Seletar Reservoir providing
a beautiful backdrop.
A tram ride, upon arrival at the Zoo, is the easiest way to familiarise yourself
with the large grounds. At the end of the ride, you may wish to enjoy dinner
(not included in tour price) in a romantic forest setting.
After dinner feel free to stroll
and take a closer look at the animals. The sound of crickets and
owls and the chance
to see the tiger or hyaenas feasting make
for a truly memorable experience.

The Dutch were the first
to monopolise it, and prospered greatly. Then the British got into
the act,
and Singapore became the focus in the fight for command of one of
the most exotic trading routes in the world – the Spice Route. Pepper,
cloves, cinnamon, saffron… filled the bowels of ships and brought
with it steady stream of immigrants from as far afield as India, China,
the Middle East and the Malay Archipelago. Today, spices lace the foods
of Singapore, made unique by the fusion of the traditional cuisine of
its immigrants. Indeed no visit to Singapore can be complete without
a hearty “pig-out” on the scrumptious local fare. Singapore
is a Gourmet Paradise. It is feasting on fish-head curry on a banana
leaf. It is enjoying chilli crab and satay sticks under moonlit skies.
It is managing an emperor’s feast with a pair of wooden
chopsticks.
We’ll walk you through spice garden – the original site of the first
Botanic Garden. Followed by a visit to Peranakan showroom – display of
peranakan kitchen crockery used. In Little India, we’ll explore narrow
streets overflowing with gold and spices, pots and pans, saris and gold. Take
the opportunity to try some Indian foods – famed for its variety and infinitely
subtle blend of aromatic spices and seasonings. Next, a visit to a wet market,
where shrewd housewives jostle to ensure that only the freshest foods get laid
out at the dinner table. Then drive pass Katong food street where a majority
of Peranakan families have set up their homes and business. Our last stop at
a Chinese Medical Hall in Chinatown. By the end of the trail we promise you will
learn a thing or two about dining etiquette of different races and even deal
with the most ingenious of cutlery – your fingers and its extended version – the
chopsticks!
